Go Orange Webinar: Sustainability is a hot topic, use it in your customer conversations
Presented by Jon Howell
By 2050 there will be 24 billion interconnected devices around the globe, allowing the exchange of data between systems that used to be siloed. But what will this mean for smart spaces and environmental sustainability?
Find out about the HPE Aruba Networking solutions powering the use of IOT in Smart Spaces and Environmental Sustainability, both visible to the consumer and behind the scenes.

IoT solutions can enable businesses to create an eco-sustainable environment and reach net zero by 2050 by helping them to conserve energy and utilise natural resources for power.
For instance, IoT energy harvesting sensors can use naturally occurring resources such as radio waves or light for power. As a result, no batteries or energy supply is required. Without cables and switches, less manpower is required which in turn results in less need for transport.
In fact, according to the World Economic Forum report, so-called smart energy would enable greater efficiency, reduce the kW price and increase the use of renewable energy in the mix of energy sources, potentially leading to over 1.3 trillion MWh of energy savings from now until 2030.
Discover how a sustainable consumption model like TaaS reduces equipment waste, contributes to a circular economy, and unlocks new business opportunities for partners.
Power over Ethernet (PoE) is an access layer technology, driven by the need to connect emerging power hungry IoT devices. Enabling remote powered device operation, the technology combines both data signals and electrical power into a single Ethernet cable connection, creating a more sustainable environment with:
Energy Efficient Ethernet (EEE) technologies, as defined by the IEEE 802.3az task force, are designed to reduce per-port power usage by shutting down ports when no link is present or when activity is low.
When this feature is enabled and the port link is down, the PHY automatically goes down for a short period of time, waking up when it senses activity. This default feature reduces power consumption.
When Low Power Idle (EEE) is enabled (by default), EEEs save power by reducing consumption on network ports that are not forwarding traffic. The EEE feature works on ports in auto-negotiation mode, where the port is negotiated to either 100 Mbps full duplex or 1 Gbps (1000 Mbps) full duplex.
On switches that support PoE, global and per-port configuration and schedule settings.
Power is delivered to the higher-priority ports when needed before providing it to the lower priority ports, with low being the lowest priority and the default for all ports.
With two built-in schedules, Schedule 1 and Schedule 2, and either periodic or absolute time periods, configure schedules for the allocation of power to PoE ports.
